Relationship Counselling

Humans are wired for connection and research has shown that the quality of our relationships plays a huge role in our overall well-being and life satisfaction. At times, we can find ourselves in painful cycles, feeling stuck in how we relate to our significant others. Relationship therapy offers a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space to highlight any blindspots and to explore what might be contributing to these cycles, such as past events and childhood relationships.

I have completed a Level 5 Certificate accredited by the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists in Couple/Relationship Therapy. Using my training and experience, I integrate several approaches, drawing on perspectives such as Attachment theory, Transactional Analysis and Imago therapy to make sense of the underlying roots to your issue, what's maintaining it and how we can support you to make positive change. I provide strategies to apply outside of sessions that might help improve areas of concern such as communication, conflict resolution and intimacy


Relationship therapy can be helpful for anyone; whether you're married, non-monogamous, LGBTQIA+ or if you are experiencing issues in other relationships such as with a family member, a friend or even a colleague. Relationship therapy can be a helpful tool at any time; whether it's to maintain the quality of an already healthy relationship or as a source of support whilst navigating difficult life changes such as separation; the goal of our work may not always be staying together and sometimes there may be differing aims and wishes of each party. My role as your therapist is to facilitate negotiating a resolution that everyone is comfortable with.

 

Whatever your issue, I will support you to gain greater self-awareness around your feelings, thoughts and responses and offer tools to make positive changes, with the overall goal of feeling better equipped to develop good connections with the people in your life. Relationship therapy is usually time-limited with sessions lasting between 6-12 weeks but we will work collaboratively and I will regularly check in with you around how you feel the sessions are going and whether there is anything you'd like to change.
